It has been an incredibly challenging year and has uniquely tested the strength of the freight industry and our ability to adapt and work together in extraordinary circumstances. However, the industry has pulled through and with all we have learnt, we will secure an even more exciting and positive future. We have been amazed by the flexibility, tenacity and creativity that freight forwarders have shown as they have navigated the challenges of 2020.
Freight transportation and supply chains are recognised as being essential services, and the work being done to support healthcare and essential supplies, society and the economy is vital.
Although the COVID pandemic has sent shockwaves through the freight world, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) predict a return to growth in 2021 and highlight the need for the transport industry to brace for change and be prepared for a transformed post-COVID world.
“The pandemic strengthened the case for digitalization.” UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi said.
DigiFreight is the pioneer in the new world of freight networking and our interface will enable easier and more effective virtual communication for our Members. Our Meeting Hub, which launches in April 2021, will enable our Members to schedule an online meeting with their global partners at a mutually convenient time - with time zones automatically considered. This will be a vital tool as we continue to adapt to a new way of working and communicating.
Plus! We know it is important to meet in person and we are delighted to announce that we have organised an exciting 2 day event in Croatia from 30-31 May 2022 (Meet-n-Greet Gala Dinner 29 May). The gathering is entirely optional, but we anticipate most major world markets to be represented. The event will provide a fantastic opportunity for our Members to save substantial time away from the office as well as considerable travel expenses by being able to meet together in one place at the same time.
